Meet the Mechanic - Tom

How did you begin working in the trailer industry?

My dad is a car mechanic so since I was young I have spent weekends with him fixing cars! I then went into the parts industry selling spare parts and then finally moved to specialised welding work which is where I have worked on tankers.

What do you like about working for TIP Trailer Services?

I like the independence I have in my role; I can just complete my jobs and get on with the day! I think the support from colleagues is great and the benefits are really good, especially private medical care. Also, the working conditions are great, and health and safety is important to everybody.

What’s your biggest work achievement?

I would say my biggest work achievement is all the skills I have picked up over the years. Most of my experience is self-taught and I like to keep busy at all times, so I am always picking stuff up. 

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have my hands full with my 11 month old daughter and the dogs!
