Meet the Mechanic - Ashley W

How did you begin working in the trailer industry?

I started in the transport industry as a bus and coach builder and shortly after this I became a car technician for a few years, before moving onto trucks. This led me to working on trailers, which I have been doing for the last few years now.

What do you like about working for TIP?

I think the atmosphere we have is really friendly and everyone gets on well. I also find the employee benefits really useful!

What’s your biggest work achievement?

I recently got a Business Hero Award for quick thinking when I witnessed an accident on the road. A guy on his bike was knocked off and I ensured all traffic was stopped and he was put into a recovery position. This helped the local police when they arrived at the scene.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

One of my main hobbies is Nitro RC car racing where I race remote control cars. I do this all across the Midlands and was previously the ‘Under 13 Champion’ in the UK. I then had to take time out when I started a family, but I am now getting back into it and hope to compete in UK and overseas competitions.
