Meet the Mechanic - Craig
How did you begin working in the tanker industry?
When I left school, I started working as a coach builder and I was in this industry for over 10 years. I then moved into the tanker industry where I spent the first 6 years refurbishing tankers and subsequently moved into manufacturing new tankers. I have worked for TIP for over 26 years now!
What do you like about working for TIP Trailer Services?
I really enjoy how different each day can be, especially when working with our customers! I take pride in assisting customers with any issues they may have and I will always do my best to make sure everyone is happy. The management team are absolutely fantastic as well!
TIP benefits are also great and I recently took advantage of the private healthcare scheme, having a new knee replacement. It went very well and was done much quicker than I expected.
What’s your biggest work achievement?
There was an occasion where I went out to a breakdown and the driver had only anticipated it being a day job. When it was almost evening, and with work finished for the day, I took him for some food whilst the breakdown work was being done. I then got him a change of clothes and dropped him back off at his vehicle. I received a Business Hero Award for this!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love being outside! I enjoy field sports, going shooting and fishing and do a lot of walking with my two dogs!
