Khaalid Egaal

Hi, my name is Khaalid and I’m from Birmingham! I am the IT Security Intern here at TIP Group. I work closely alongside solution engineers and third parties to remediate vulnerable applications, servers and domains. I enjoy working with the team and I am always learning something new, which makes my placement experience so far a great one!

What attracted you to TIP Group?

What attracted me to TIP Group were the vast opportunities and responsibilities that were outlined in the job description for this position; I thought it’s an opportunity not to be missed! I was also impressed by the amount of positive feedback TIP received from its employees; the work to life balance seemed great and this was something very important to me.

I also anticipated that TIP’s dynamic work environment would play a significant role in my learning and personal growth.

Describe your experience at TIP in three words:

Fun, challenging and exciting!

What projects have you been working on whilst on your placement?

I have worked on a lot of important projects and my workload differs on a day-to-day basis.

One of the most important projects that I have been working on so far throughout the process of this internship has been Vulnerability Management. Through this project, I speak with solution engineers and extract information on Qualys, which is a Vulnerability Management tool, to come up with a remediation plan for vulnerable servers and applications.

What have you learnt / developed since the start of your internship?

I definitely developed my ‘people’ and communication skills by talking to, meeting and working alongside different individuals, either in person or via Teams. I also learnt how to use a variety of complex software like Microsoft Defender, Absolute and Intune. Moreover, I am better now at managing my time effectively as I have a lot of meetings during the week and so I set time aside to understand the agenda for meetings and attend prepared!

What is the best place you ever travelled to? What did you like?

Egypt. I have family there and I always enjoy visiting … it brings back great memories from when I was a child.

What is your favorite snack?

Jaffa Cakes
