How long have you been in the industry and how did you get into it?
I have been in the industry for 7 years, starting in the Devizes branch at Ryder, working with a focus on tyre maintenance, service and billing. Since then, I have worked at multiple Ryder locations and commenced a Contract Management role in 2019 before transferring to TIP in 2022 and moving to the Area Sales Manager role.
What are the top 3 most valuable skills you’ve learnt whilst working at TIP?
‘Out-of-the-box’ thinking: - TIP offers an incredible amount of flexibility to our customers. I have enjoyed learning about the ways TIP goes above and beyond to find suitable and tailored solutions to their customers’ requirements, from maintenance models to fleet growth.
Empowerment of all staff: - The way TIP strives to empower its people at all levels to make decisions and develop their skills has been great to see, and I am also learning how best to empower my colleagues so we continue to achieve together.
Product Knowledge: - It has been great to see the emphasis on hands-on knowledge within the commercial team, and the opportunities given to visit manufacturers and depots provides essential knowledge to stay up to date.
What is your biggest work achievement?
Whilst working in Contract Management, I managed a large operator as part of my national portfolio. Whilst primarily focussed on retention and service excellence, I also oversaw continued annual fleet growth for this account each year I was involved, representing a total increase of 158 leased trailers, despite this not being the focus of my position. This growth was depictive of the strong relationship built between the customer and the operation.
What is a fun/interesting fact about yourself?
I don’t like cheese. Of any description.
