Carbon Footprint
At TIP Group, we are committed to achieving carbon neutrality across our operations and value chain in support of global climate goals. As part of our "For Generations to Come" sustainability strategy, we have set the following targets:
- Carbon neutral operations by 2030
- Carbon neutral value chain by 2050
In 2022, we completed our first comprehensive carbon footprint assessment together with Watershed, covering scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This analysis uncovered that a vast majority of our emissions (more than 96.7%) fall under Scope 3. These are indirect emissions incurred because of business activities with our suppliers and customers, resulting from leased downstream assets (the trucks and reefers we lease to our customers) and upstream supply chain activities (resulting mainly from capital goods). Reaching our carbon neutral aim covers all three scopes. However, we recognise that reducing our scope 3 emissions, where we have less direct control, will require close cooperation with customers, suppliers and other partners to support their transition to new low-carbon business models and technologies.
To reduce our Scope 3 carbon emissions, TIP Group has introduced innovative products and services for our customers. Our sustainable products such as the eReefer, eTrucks and eLCVs along with our telematics services bundled in TIP Insight are key to achieving this ambition. Plus, our Refurbishment program contributes to a circular economy, extending the lifespan of our assets and promoting resource efficiency by maximizing the use of existing materials. All of this will prove to be key contributors in achieving our goal of reducing our Scope 3 emissions

When we initiated our carbon calculation project, we committed to the highest carbon accounting standards. Therefore, we have aimed to only include emissions for which we either have reliable actual data available or robust assumptions formulated. As data granularity has incrementally improved over the past 2 years our scope of carbon emissions covered by our calculations have expanded. Hence, our total carbon footprint has not only increased in total emissions but also in quality.
Please see our Sustainability Report for more details on our carbon footprint.
