TIP’s FBB&G take on the Balearics for this year’s charity bike ride

PRESS RELEASE : 14th September 2021

Following the cancellation of last year’s annual charity bike ride due to the pandemic, the ‘Fat Bottomed Boys and Girls’ (FBB&G) are getting back in the saddle at the end of this month taking on their 8th annual charity cycle challenge. This year, the intrepid team of riders are completing a testing three day event around the Balearic island of Majorca.

Taking place from September 29 to October 1 and comprising a broad mix of age, experience and ability drawn from TIP employees, loyal customers and supporting partners from the UK and Irish transport industries, the TIP event will cover a route of over 300 kms circumnavigating the island, with a mix of spectacular but punishing climbs that will prove to be a test for many of the participants.

“Over the past seven years, TIP’s FBB&G has raised more than £300,000 for deserving charities by participating in our annual challenge for both experienced and novice cyclists, and this year we are looking to raise a further £60,000,” said Mike Furnival, managing director UK&I, TIP Trailer Services.

This year, the donations will be split between the Donna Louise children’s hospice in Stoke-on-Trent, a long term beneficiary charity closely associated with TIP, and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Mike Furnival continues, “Every year we’ve had fantastic support from all corners of the transport industry in supplying both team members and sponsorship and this year we welcome any sponsorship for this event, particularly as we could not support deserving charities in the same way last year due to the circumstances we’ve faced”.
