TIP’s ‘Fat Bottomed Boys & Girls’ Charity Bike Ride Raises £92,000 for Charity
PRESS RELEASE: 23rd September 2024
TIP’s annual charity bike ride has raised over £92,000 for Staffordshire-based hospice Dougie Mac. The ‘Fat Bottomed Boys and Girls’ teams over the years have now raised more than £600,000 for various charitable causes.
Fundraising has now closed for the tenth TIP charity bike ride, with the FBB&G team of around 50 cyclists recently completing a tough 300 kilometre cycling challenge in three days starting in Zurich and travelling through Switzerland and Austria before finishing in Munich. Along the way, the team faced some unforgiving terrain with more than 2,500 metres of climbing in stormy weather conditions. The trek, dubbed the ‘10-year Ich’, was completed by TIP customers, suppliers and staff from across the UK and Ireland and included its share of FBB&G debutants.
This tenth challenge raised much needed funds for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Staffordshire which provides care services to children, young adults and adults alike throughout North Staffordshire and surrounding areas that have life-limiting illnesses.
Mike Furnival, managing director of TIP commented: “This year’s event was not for the faint hearted but the team was resilient and remained focussed on the challenge. We are delighted to have raised an incredible amount for a fantastic charity and we remain very grateful to our cycling team members, official sponsors and to all those colleagues, friends and family members that continue to support us every year.”
