Ian Edmundson
How long have you worked in marketing, and what do you enjoy about it?
I’ve been in my current role since early 2019 but have been part of a marketing team in some capacity, whether as product manager, product marketing manager or category marketing manager since 2008.
As many would say, I like the variety that the role brings, but I especially like the fact that the function is responsible in many ways for how the company is perceived externally, through brand and so on.
What is your biggest work achievement?
Better ask my boss, but he’ll probably say it is still to come.
What does a typical day for you involve?
Like for many people, a typical day has changed somewhat of late and I have had to adapt to less face-to-face meetings and more virtual ones. So, for now its emails, calls, emails, calls. As there is often no gaps between calls, I carry a flask with me!
Who/what inspires you?
I find it difficult to be inspired by well known people that are not known to me personally, such as leaders, famous people etc. So, I’d go for anyone that I have known that has gone through great suffering, such as illness, dependency or loss, but still find it within themselves to ‘battle on’.
What do you like about working for TIP Trailer Services?
First and foremost the people; it may sound corny but I work with a fantastic set of people who are so knowledgeable about the industry and our business but who remain extremely humble and are good fun to work with. I also believe in what we are trying to do, which helps tremendously day-to-day.
What interesting fact about you would you like to share?
My dad, RIP, taught Dennis Taylor, world snooker champion, to drive!
