e-trucks

e-trucks are trucks that are powered by electric for reduced or zero fuel and CO² emissions.

An electric truck, also known as a battery electric vehicle (BEV), uses electric motors and motor controllers instead of an internal combustion engine (ICE) for propulsion.

Their power is stored in a battery pack, which stores the electrical energy that powers the vehicles movement, heating, lighting or ancillary equipment, such as tail lifts. The higher the capacity of the battery, the more work the vehicle can do (or the further the distance it can travel).

e-trucks can be a ‘hybrid’, combining with other fuel types for reduced (as opposed to zero) fuel and CO² emissions.

The leading manufacturers of e-trucks are DAF, Volvo, MAN, Renault, Scania and Mercedes.

An e-truck can be tractor unit, a rigid truck or even a specialist vehicle.

TIP offers e-trucks on a long term lease basis from several manufacturers.
